Pori is here: games that only work outside

Meet Pori, a city fox who learns to look closer. Why Porini makes games that only work when you step outside.

Children can name dozens of logos and game characters, but many can't tell two trees apart. We think that's not a failure of children. It's a design problem. So we built a character who has the same problem.

Pori grew up in the city, among streetlights and screens. Pori is curious, a bit impatient and very good at noticing things once he slows down. In our first clip, a scan ring sweeps over a crack in the pavement and a dandelion appears. What looks like one yellow flower is actually many tiny flowers packed into one head.

Porini (formerly SpecDex) is our app for exactly that moment: point your phone at a plant or an animal outside, and an AI field guide helps you find out what it is. The games only work outside. That's the point.

Every week, Pori will find something new: in a schoolyard, on a balcony, at a pond, at the edge of a forest. You'll find a short note like this one for every clip.

Try it outside

Pick one pavement crack on your way to school or work, together with a friend or someone from your family. Look at it for one minute. Count every living thing you can find: plants, moss, ants. Look, don't touch.

Porini is free for schools.
