Games4Nature · a Porini Foundation programme
Games that only work outside.
Many children can name dozens of brands and game characters, but few can name the trees outside their school. Games4Nature uses the tools that pull children away from nature to bring them back.
We only love what we know, and we only protect what we love.
Why
Porini was founded in 2017 to bring new technology to nature conservation. Games4Nature applies that idea to the next generation: know nature, love it, protect it.
How
- Real nature, not virtual: every point is earned outdoors
- AI as a field guide, and lessons on where AI makes mistakes
- Game design that can compete for attention
- Safe by design for minors
- Built into school life with Lehrplan 21 teaching kits
What is running today
Porini app
LiveScan real species, collect cards, duel friends. Formerly SpecDex, co-developed with Operal AG.
Porini Stewards
BetaWalk a loop, scan living things at the corners and care for the land inside. Not yet offered to schools.
Teaching kits
First versionLessons for cycles 1 and 2 on nature and on how AI works, shared with invited teachers.
Porini Play
LiveShort daily nature games on this website, the warm-up for going outside.
Our goal for 2029
10 million additional hours in nature for children on five continents.
This is a goal, not a result. We are defining how to measure it before we report any numbers.
How we will measure impact
- Hours spent outdoors while playing, with a clear and published counting method
- Species records from children, shared anonymously with biodiversity databases
- Seasons run with schools, NGOs and protected areas
- Changes in species knowledge, measured with before-and-after questions in pilot classes
How to partner
Fund a season
Bring Porini seasons to schools and parks in a new region.
Support the teaching kits
Help translate and adapt the kits for new countries and curricula.
Build with us
Conservation partners can shape species packs and field content.
